Emraan-Eesha sizzle in Jannat 2 poster
The smooch king is slowly turning into an actor of substance. Emraan Hashmi and Eesha Gupta exude an excellent screen chemistry in the latest poster of Jannat 2. The sequel to 2008 hit Jannat is about changing face of gun trade.

Mahesh Bhatt explains that while researching the subject they learnt from the Delhi police that nawabs and kings had employed skilled artisans to make arms for them to wage frequent wars, but the British banned them, wanting exclusive control over arms and ammunition in India. Centuries later, with sales of arms escalating, the next generation was tapped for their skills and made part of the flourishing illegal trade. “Jannat 2 will open a can of worms, much like its predecessor did in 2008,” promises Emraan in a recent interview with HT.

Four years ago a story about match-fixing may have seemed like pure fiction, but today after a string of headline-grabbing front page reports, there’s a sense of déjà vu. What you see and read in 2011-2012, was all said in our film four years ago. That’s exactly how it’s going to be with Jannat 2 as well,” he says.

As part of the research, I even got to fire a gun says Emraan who since he was a child, has been hooked to action movies. “I used to fire toy guns earlier. Firing the real thing was a high, but I also realised how much power it puts into your hands. It is used by the police to protect, but if it gets into the wrong hands, it can destroy too. It brings out the dark side in some people and can become a fatal obsession.”

Vivek Oberoi to play Dawood in biopic

Until a few days ago, actor Vivek Oberoi and director Sanjay Gupta were embroiled in a standoff over the role of Dawood Ibrahim in Shootout At Wadala. Sanjay called the star “a joke”, Vivek stated that he read the script but “didn’t like the role at all”, and had no option but to turn it down.

And now, even as Sanjay ropes in Sonu Sood to play the gangster in his sequel to Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007), based on the life of gangster Manya Surve, Vivek is readying to act in Bollywood’s first-ever biopic of Dawood that’s likely to start sometime next year.

The actor is adept at bringing underworld dons to the big screen. He started his career with a gritty portrayal of Chandu Nagre — supposedly based on don Chhota Rajan — in Ram Gopal Varma’s Company (2002) followed by a menacing Maya Dolas in Shootout At Lokhandwala.

Producer Amit Chandrra — who is producing Vivek’s upcoming Kismat Luv Paisa Dilli (KLPD) also starring Mallika Sherawat — will back the new biopic too. The film aims to unravel what gave the gangster cult status, besides showcasing his human side.

“The makers are yet to start their research for the film. Plans were afoot to begin the project sometime in 2012, but since Vivek is caught up with back-to-back films this year, they have pushed it to 2013,” says an insider close to Chandrra. “Amit isn’t in a hurry either, since such a project will need extensive homework.

Amitabh Bachchan, Subhash Ghai patch up after 25 years
Subhash Ghai decided to bury the differences of 25 years with Big B when he visited the megastar recently at Jalsa, reports Mumbai Mirror.

Ghai and Big B were not on talking terms even since creative differences cropped up between the two during the making of Devaa, reports Subhash K Jha for Mumbai Mirror.

But all that is a thing of past now, as the filmmaker is now planning to rope in Big B for his next.

“I went to meet him at his home with no hidden agenda, just to catch up with him and wish him a speedy recovery. It was long due. I am his admirer. I’d love to work with him. We need a great script. I consider him the best actor in the country after Dilip Kumar,” Ghai confirmed to the tabloid. Big B too confirmed that Ghai had visited him.

The megastar however is recovering from his recent surgery and is taking up selective projects. Will he say yes to Ghai?

Mahesh Bhatt : Nothing wrong with erotica thrillers

The shooting of Jism 2, starring ex-Bigg Boss inmate and Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone, will start in Jaipur, next month. “The shooting is starting from April 1, after which it will be shot in foreign locations, and also in Delhi,” reveals the film’s producer Mahesh Bhatt.

While Bhatt refuses to disclose much about the movie’s storyline, he says that Jism 2 is not only an erotic thriller, it is also a story of a girl’s journey to unimaginable heights. “Erotica thriller has a big potential on box office, and the success of movies like the Murder series and Jism has proved it,” says the 63-year-old film-maker. He says that there is nothing wrong exploring the genre. “Sex is an important component in every industry now. Look at the promotion of any product. It is incomplete without a beautiful face. Film industry is not different in a way,” he adds.

Bhatt also defended his upcoming flick, Blood Money that was recently in a controversy for being a copy of the Hollywood movie, Blood diamond. “The film has nothing to do with any Hollywood movie. The treatment is completely different from Blood diamond,” he says. Directed by Vishal Mahadkar, the film that is scheduled to hit the screens on March 30, stars actors Kunal Khemu and Amrita Puri in the lead.
